KABUL: Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, announced that he welcomes and supports the agreement for a ceasefire and the release of Israeli prisoners in Gaza, based on the U.S. President’s peace plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a post on his X account this morning, he praised the roles and efforts of the U.S., Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey in mediating this “vital progress.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Guterres stated, “I urge all parties involved to fully adhere to the terms of this agreement.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that the United Nations will support the full implementation of the agreement between Hamas and the Israeli regime and will intensify efforts to deliver “sustainable and principled” humanitarian aid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He emphasized that the UN will continue to advance the reconstruction and improvement of conditions in Gaza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The UN chief also called on all stakeholders to seize this historic opportunity to establish a credible political path toward ending the occupation, recognizing the right to self-determination of the Palestinian people, and achieving a two-state solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Guterres expressed that the situation has never been as “sensitive and decisive” as it is now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
