KABUL: The country\u2019s Foreign Minister Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi held an official meeting today with his Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar in New Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement stated that the discussion encompassed various topics, including strengthening political ties, expanding economic cooperation, facilitating people-to-people exchanges, combating drug trafficking, and regional economic projects and transport corridors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi expressed gratitude for the invitation to visit and described the meeting as a significant and historic development in the relationship between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He called India as an important country in the region, highlighting the long-standing diplomatic, historical, civilizational, and popular ties between Afghanistan and India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the statement, Minister Muttaqi pointed out investment opportunities in Afghanistan, encouraging Indian investors to engage in sectors such as agriculture, health, mining, electricity, and transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also expressed hope for resolving issues related to Afghan prisoners in India, facilitating efforts to open the Wagah border, and easing visa procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar commended the Islamic Emirate’s efforts in ensuring security, preventing drug trafficking, and fostering regional cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He emphasized that India would continue to engage in strengthening bilateral relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the meeting, Jaishankar announced that India’s representation in Kabul would be upgraded to the level of an embassy and that diplomats of the Islamic Emirate would be welcomed in New Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He expressed condolences for the recent earthquakes in Nangarhar and Kunar and assured continued humanitarian assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
