KABUL: U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed optimism about the sustainability of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip during remarks to reporters in the Oval Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to CNN, Trump stated, “Everyone is tired of the war. Don’t forget, you had October 7, a terrible day when 1,200 people were killed, but Hamas lost 58,000. That was a significant death toll.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the meantime, following the end of hostilities and the implementation of the ceasefire, approximately 200,000 Palestinians have returned to their homes in northern Gaza from the southern regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Gaza Health Ministry, however, reported that the number of casualties differs from Trump’s announcement, stating that 67,000 people have died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On another note, Hamas has announced that the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza will be reopened by next week to facilitate the return of displaced Palestinians to their areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
