KABUL: Donald Trump, the President of the United States, who is set to face a court hearing over tariff disputes during his second term, has announced that he will not attend the session scheduled for this Wednesday.
The U.S. President in a post on his X account, emphasized that the use of tariffs over the past nine months has made the country safer and wealthier. He warned that if he is unable to use tariffs as a tool against other nations, the United States could fall to the level of third-world countries.
He stated that losing his authority to impose tariffs would leave the U.S. defenseless and in an extremely vulnerable position.
Trump wrote: “I will not go to court on Wednesday because I don\u2019t want to distract from the importance of this decision. If we win, we will be the wealthiest and safest country in the world\u2014by far. If we lose, our country might fall to near third-world levels\u2014pray that doesn\u2019t happen!”
According to him, losing the ability to impose tariffs would lead the country toward ruin.
The Supreme Court is set to hold a session on Wednesday regarding Trump\u2019s authority under the \u201cInternational Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).\u201d This law grants the President emergency powers to impose tariffs or sanctions in certain situations.
