KABUL: Following a meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the White House during a dinner, Donald Trump announced that Riyadh is set to be designated as a “Major Non-NATO Ally” for the United States.
The New York Post, a reputable American media outlet, reported today, that the U.S. President stated that this decision comes after a “historic defense-strategic agreement” was signed between Washington and Riyadh.
He emphasized, “We are elevating our military cooperation to a much higher level by officially designating Saudi Arabia as a major non-NATO ally, which is very important for them.”
The announcement of Saudi Arabia’s designation as a major non-NATO ally follows the Crown Prince’s signing of multi-billion-dollar contracts during his meeting with Trump, including deals for F-35 military aircraft and economic agreements, as well as the normalization of relations with the Israeli regime.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, visiting the U.S. for the first time in seven years, received a warm welcome from Trump.
