KABUL: In the presence of the Deputy Prime Ministers for Economic and Administrative Affairs, the construction of a large aerial and vehicular bridge, costing 400 million Afghanis, has been kicked off by the municipality here in Kabul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Radio Omid’s correspondent, the foundation stone for this infrastructure project, located opposite the Kabul provincial governor’s office, was laid today, during a ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, noted that the bridge will be 273 meters long, 18 meters wide, and 8 meters high.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He emphasized that no infrastructure work has been carried out by the municipality in Kabul over the past two decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi, the Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs, mentioned that a metro line is also planned for Kabul in the coming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although he did not specify a timeline for its construction, he assured the public of the government’s programs in this regard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mawlavi Hanafi urged Kabul residents to cooperate in keeping the capital clean and tidy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the other hand, officials from the Kabul municipality stated that over the past four years, 350 kilometers of roads have been constructed in the capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Engineer Amir Zumrak, the deputy for construction affairs at the Kabul municipality, reported on the implementation of road projects during the initiation of the vehicle bridge’s construction opposite the Kabul governor’s office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While discussing the municipality’s construction plans to reduce traffic congestion in Kabul, Zumrak emphasized that there are currently 120 projects underway in the capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
