KABUL: U.S. President Donald Trump has once again warned Iranian officials that the U.S. will respond harshly if they continue to suppress protesters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to AFP, Trump stated, “I told them that if they start killing their people, we will strike them very hard.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Norway-based Iranian Human Rights Organization reported on Thursday that Iranian security forces have killed around 50 protesters since the demonstrations began in late December. They noted that 13 protesters were killed just on Wednesday, marking the highest death toll in the past 12 days of protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mahmoud Amiri Makaram, the head of the Iranian Human Rights Organization, also reported hundreds of injuries and nearly 2,000 arrests of protesters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The international monitoring group on Thursday, reported a complete internet shutdown across Iran, while a recent report from a major Israeli news outlet indicated that protesters are using Starlink internet, with Elon Musk providing them access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In response to the protests, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi called for “maximum tolerance,” stressing the importance of hearing people’s demands and avoiding any form of violence or coercive behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It should be noted that anti-government protests have been ongoing in Iran for the past 13 days, during which the government blames Washington for inciting the protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
