KABUL: U.S. President Donald Trump has adjusted his stance following widespread backlash from allies regarding their involvement in the Afghanistan war.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social on Saturday night, Trump praised the role of Britain, stating that “great and very brave soldiers” from the UK will always stand alongside the United States.
However, he did not specifically mention other NATO members.
Trump, remarked on British military casualties in Afghanistan, stating that 457 British soldiers lost their lives and many were severely injured, describing them as some of the greatest warriors in history.
He emphasized that this bond is so strong that it will never be broken.
Recently, in an interview with Fox News, Trump criticized NATO members, claiming they operated a step behind the front lines during the Afghanistan conflict.
The comment drew a wave of criticism from leaders of NATO countries, each highlighting their soldiers’ sacrifices in the war.
