KABUL: Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, recently stated that citizen protests against the Iranian government are set to resume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking at a U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee meeting on Wednesday evening, Rubio indicated that anti-government protests in Iran would reignite. He noted that although “popular protests” in Iran have subsided, they will resume “due to the regime’s inability” to address the people’s concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Iranian government is in a very weak position, he said emphasizing that the Iranian leadership must respond to the people’s demands or find a way to step aside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement comes amidst Tehran’s accusations that Washington supports “chaos” in the country. Recently, protests in Iran, which the government has termed as “chaos,” have subsided following the deaths of over 3,000 people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
