KABUL: Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi, Iran\u2019s foreign minister, arrived in Geneva on Wednesday night for bilateral talks with a U.S. delegation aimed at addressing Tehran\u2019s nuclear program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Iran\u2019s state-affiliated Tasnim News Agency reported that Araghchi\u2019s plane landed in the Swiss city late Wednesday, publishing video footage of his arrival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Iranian and American delegations are expected to hold the third round of negotiations in Geneva, in what observers describe as potentially decisive talks to prevent further escalation and avert the risk of military conflict between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently described Iran\u2019s nuclear and missile programs as a \u201cserious threat\u201d to U.S. interests. Rubio told reporters that the issue was also highlighted in President Donald Trump\u2019s annual address to Congress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI want everyone to understand that the Iranian government has been a very serious threat to the United States for a long time,\u201d Rubio said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
