KABUL: As Donald Trump, President of the United States, recently claimed that Iranian forces themselves carried out the deadly attack on the Minab Girls\u2019 School in Iran, a new investigation by The New York Times suggests otherwise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The newspaper published its report on Sunday, citing evidence including satellite imagery, social media posts, and video footage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the report, the strike on the school which killed more than 170 female students, occurred at the same time as a heavy attack on a nearby naval base belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report states that official statements indicating that U.S. forces were targeting naval sites near the Strait of Hormuz, where the IRGC base is located, suggest the possibility that the strike may have been carried out by those forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The newspaper also noted that the lack of access for international journalists to the attack site and the absence of publicly presented fragments of the weapons used have made it difficult to reach a definitive conclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In response to questions from The New York Times about whether the attack was carried out by the United States, the White House referred to remarks by Karoline Leavitt, the U.S. president\u2019s spokesperson, who said: \u201cAs far as we know, that is not the case. The United States Department of Defense is reviewing the matter.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The strike on the Minab school has been described as the deadliest civilian incident since the war between Iran, the United States, and Israel began nearly ten days ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
