KABUL: Afghanistan\u2019s National Procurement Commission has approved 17 development projects worth 1 billion Afghanis (some 14 million U.S. dollars), officials said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The decision was made during a meeting, which was chaired by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Islamic Emirate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a statement from the deputy PM office, the approved projects include the construction of a university dormitory in Panjshir province, a medical faculty building in Badakhshan province, and the completion of key road infrastructure linking Kunar and Nuristan provinces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other projects included the construction of public hospitals in districts of Ghazni, Faryab, and Nangarhar provinces, as well as electricity distribution initiatives across several regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A total of 42 projects were reviewed in the meeting. Of those, 17 were approved, 14 were amended, and several others were referred for further negotiations or re-evaluation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials said the projects will be funded by the Afghan government and were approved following technical assessments to ensure transparency and quality.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
