KABUL: U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that Washington is close to achieving its strategic objectives in Iran, saying the conflict could end within two to three weeks.
In a televised address to the nation, Trump said the United States is \u201ccloser than ever to victory,\u201d asserting that Iran\u2019s naval forces have been \u201ccompletely destroyed\u201d and its Air Force is being significantly weakened.
He warned that military operations would intensify in the coming weeks, adding: \u201cWe will continue until our objectives are fully achieved. We are on track to complete all U.S. goals very soon.\u201d
Despite saying a day earlier that Iran does not need a deal to end the war, Trump stated in his speech that if Iran refuses to agree to terms, key infrastructure would be targeted.
\u201cIf no agreement is reached, we will strike all their power generation facilities\u2014severely and possibly simultaneously,\u201d he said.
