KABUL: The defense ministry of the United Arab Emirates says it has intercepted 17 ballistic missiles and 35 drones launched from Iran, even as a two-week ceasefire between Iran and the United States and Israel came into effect.
In a statement released Wednesday, the ministry said the interceptions occurred earlier in the day, underscoring ongoing tensions despite the truce.
According to the statement, over more than 40 days of hostilities, the UAE has intercepted a total of 537 ballistic missiles, 26 cruise missiles, and 2,256 drones.
The ministry added that 224 people from 31 countries have been injured during this period, while 10 fatalities were reported, including nationals from Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Palestine, India, and Egypt.
Officials stressed that the UAE remains fully prepared to confront any threats and will respond decisively to actions that undermine its security.
The UAE, like several other regional countries, hosts facilities linked to the United States and has been within range of Iranian missile and drone operations throughout the recent escalation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
