KABUL: As negotiations between U.S. and Iranian delegations take place in Islamabad, Pakistan, Russia\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed hope that the talks will produce positive outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Russia\u2019s state-run TASS news agency, reported early today that Alexander Alimov, Russia\u2019s Deputy Foreign Minister, in an interview with the Russian newspaper Izvestia, said the next step in the UN Security Council regarding how the situation develops and any potential agreement will depend on progress made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that, during Russia\u2019s presentation, the Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, briefed the Security Council on a draft resolution submitted by Russia together with the People\u2019s Republic of China adding that the draft is currently under discussion at the Security Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier, Russia\u2019s Foreign Ministry, in a statement released late Friday night, urged participants in the Islamabad talks to adopt a \u201cresponsible\u201d approach and to avoid any actions that could undermine the opportunity created by the negotiations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the same time, both sides of the talks, the U.S. and Iran were urged to refrain from any steps that might disrupt the moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Still, Alimov said it remains to be seen whether the U.S. delegation can present reassuring results to the international community from its talks in Islamabad or not.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
