{"id":20739,"date":"2026-05-02T06:42:16","date_gmt":"2026-05-02T06:42:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/omidradio.com\/en\/?p=20739"},"modified":"2026-05-02T07:40:51","modified_gmt":"2026-05-02T07:40:51","slug":"afghanistan-plans-to-cover-nearly-30-of-oil-demand-from-domestic-sources","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/omidradio.com\/en\/2026\/05\/02\/afghanistan-plans-to-cover-nearly-30-of-oil-demand-from-domestic-sources\/","title":{"rendered":"Afghanistan plans to cover nearly 30% of oil demand from domestic sources"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KABUL: Shafi Azam, Head of Economic Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, says Afghanistan aims to meet nearly 29.75 percent of its oil demand from domestic resources in the near future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a post on X on Saturday, Azam said new national plans are expected to significantly increase oil extraction in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He noted that currently about 15.7 percent of Afghanistan\u2019s oil demand is supplied from domestic production, while the rest is imported from various countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to him, Afghanistan imports nearly 3 million metric tons of oil annually to meet domestic consumption needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The announcement comes shortly after the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs inaugurated oil extraction from five newly drilled wells in the Amu Darya Oil Basin, known as the \u201cZamorsay\u201d field.
