KABUL: The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations, said in a statement today that 491 Afghan citizens have been released from prisons in Pakistan and returned to Afghanistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the statement, the Afghan nationals were freed this week and re-entered the country through the Torkham and Spin Boldak Border Crossings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The released individuals included both family members and single migrants who had been arrested and imprisoned by Pakistani police due to a lack of legal residency documents, said the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Afghanistan\u2019s High Commission for Addressing Refugees\u2019 Issues reported that 4,772 Afghan migrants were forcibly deported from Pakistan in a single day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The commission said the migrants entered Afghanistan on Wednesday through the Torkham, Spin Boldak, and Bahramcha Border Crossing crossings in the provinces of Nangarhar, Kandahar, and Helmand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Afghan deportees and former detainees were reportedly transferred to their home areas after receiving humanitarian assistance upon arrival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
