KABUL: Zakir Jalali, the Third Political Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, says meaningful connectivity between Central Asia and South Asia is not possible without Afghanistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Writing on X on Thursday, he said that based on \u201chistory, geography, and economic logic,\u201d any attempt to bypass Afghanistan in regional connectivity projects would be neither practical nor sustainable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stressed that only a \u201ccomprehensive, constructive, and forward-looking\u201d framework with economic viability can ensure shared prosperity for the people of the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jalali also warned that continuing with \u201climited, security-oriented, or reactive approaches\u201d risks repeating past mistakes rather than solving them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA rational approach requires careful consideration of both individual national interests and the broader interests of the region,\u201d he wrote. \u201cConnectivity naturally requires inclusion, not exclusion, and must be based on economic calculations rather than emotions or temporary reactions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Jalali, the time has come to move beyond outdated patterns of thinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
