KABUL: Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar\u2019s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, has called on all parties to respond positively to mediation efforts aimed at securing a ceasefire between the United States and Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar said in a statement released Saturday night that Al Thani made the remarks during talks with Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the statement, Qatar\u2019s foreign minister stressed the importance of mediation efforts to reach a lasting agreement that would prevent renewed escalation in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe discussions focused on regional developments, particularly efforts to establish a ceasefire between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at reducing tensions and enhancing regional security and stability,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Qatar also discussed bilateral cooperation and ways to further strengthen ties between Riyadh and Doha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Al Thani\u2019s call for positive engagement with mediation efforts comes shortly after his official visit to Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
