KABUL: The Ministry of Industry and Commerce announced that private sector representatives from Afghanistan and Uzbekistan have signed 10 Memorandum of Understanding worth $112 million.
According to a statement released by the ministry on Sunday night, the MoUs were signed following business meetings between Afghan traders and representatives of the Republic of Karakalpakstan in Balkh province where Mawlavi Shahabuddin Saqib and Amanbay Orynbayev, were also present.
During the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister Saqib described the role of the private sectors of Afghanistan and Uzbekistan as important in expanding economic and trade relations between the two countries.
He also highlighted the investment potential of Balkh province and the economic progress made in Karakalpakstan, saying the two regions complement each other in trade and economic sectors.
Following the business conference, an exhibition of Uzbek domestic products was inaugurated in Mazar-i-Sharif in the presence of Afghan and Uzbek officials.
