KABUL: Narendra Modi has urged Indian citizens to reduce fuel consumption as the ongoing conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran and the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz put pressure on global energy markets.
According to a report by Reuters, Modi proposed several measures, including reducing fuel use, working from home, limiting travel, and cutting imports.
He stressed that people should once again adopt remote work and online meetings, practices that became widespread during the COVID-19 pandemic, to save fuel.
Reuters reported that rising global energy prices are putting pressure on India\u2019s foreign currency reserves.
\u201cIn the current situation, we must place strong emphasis on preserving foreign exchange reserves,\u201d Modi said.
He also encouraged citizens to make greater use of public transportation, including metro systems, and to share vehicles whenever possible to reduce fuel consumption.
