KABUL: European Commission officials have confirmed that a delegation of Afghan authorities has been invited to Brussels for discussions on possible mechanisms for deporting Afghan migrants from European countries.
Reuters reported on Monday night, citing Markus Lammert, a spokesperson for the European Commission.
According to the spokesperson, a meeting is being planned with Swedish authorities at the request of several European Union member states, although no date has yet been set.
He said the European Commission and Sweden\u2019s Ministry of Justice had sent a letter to Afghanistan\u2019s authorities to assess their willingness to participate in a technical-level meeting in Brussels.
He added that the proposed talks would focus on arrangements for the return of Afghan nationals who have received deportation orders from European countries.
So far, the Islamic Emirate officials have not publicly confirmed or denied receiving the invitation.
