KABUL: The Economic Commission, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, has approved 69 draft standards and quality measures.
In a statement released Thursday, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs said the drafts had been submitted by the National Standards and Quality Authority, for review during the commission\u2019s regular meeting.
According to the statement, 29 of the approved drafts relate to \u201ctesting methods,\u201d while the remaining 40 include standards developed for sectors such as management, petroleum products, medical equipment, telecommunications, chemicals, agriculture and food products, mining, environmental protection, and construction materials.
The commission also discussed an electricity supply project for six districts in Jawzjan province and decided to dispatch a delegation to the areas to assess the project and submit detailed findings.
Regarding a proposal by the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum to award a coal extraction contract in the Zora area of Dara-i-Suf district in Samangan province to \u201c77 Construction Company,\u201d the commission decided the matter would be forwarded to the Prime Minister\u2019s Office after a comprehensive review.
The Economic Commission also tasked a committee with reviewing fuel supply contracts for government institutions and presenting its findings at the next meeting.
In addition, the commission reviewed a proposal by the Ministry of Public Health to build a 50-bed hospital in Aliabad district of Kunduz province and decided the facility would instead be constructed with a capacity of 30 beds.
The Economic Commission regularly holds meetings to review and make decisions on economic projects and national development issues following detailed assessments.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
