{"id":21313,"date":"2026-05-19T10:14:59","date_gmt":"2026-05-19T10:14:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/omidradio.com\/en\/?p=21313"},"modified":"2026-05-19T10:15:01","modified_gmt":"2026-05-19T10:15:01","slug":"afghanistan-opens-second-national-and-international-medical-products-exhibition-in-kabul","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/omidradio.com\/en\/2026\/05\/19\/afghanistan-opens-second-national-and-international-medical-products-exhibition-in-kabul\/","title":{"rendered":"Afghanistan opens second national and international Medical Products Exhibition in Kabul"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KABUL: Afghanistan on Tuesday opened its second national and international healthcare exhibition in Kabul under the title \u201cAbu Ali Sina Balkhi,\u201d with senior Islamic Emirate officials and representatives from the pharmaceutical sector attending the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The four-day exhibition was organized by the Afghanistan Medicines and Medical Products Union in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Radio Omid correspondent, more than 1,100 types of domestically produced medicines and medical products are being displayed during the exhibition, which runs from May 19 to May 22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Officials from the pharmaceutical union said Afghanistan currently produces 38 percent of its domestic medicine demand through local factories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Head of Afghanistan Medicines and Medical Products Union, Ahmad Saeed Shams said 1,170 types of medicines are currently being manufactured by 135 domestic factories across the country, while another 500 products are undergoing testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, urged citizens to trust locally made products and called on pharmaceutical manufacturers to further improve quality standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Baradar said Afghanistan had made significant progress in medicine production and had even begun exporting some products, adding that growing domestic investment had reduced the country\u2019s dependence on foreign suppliers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi, the Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs, said the health sector had achieved major progress in recent years and stressed the importance of supporting domestic production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that improvements in healthcare services should reduce the need for Afghans to travel abroad for medical treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Mawlavi Noor Jalal Jalali, Minister of Public Health, said around 90 percent of Afghans seek treatment through public hospitals and healthcare centers and called on investors to expand investments in the health sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jalali also advocated replacing imported medical products with domestic alternatives, saying locally produced medicines offer advantages in both quality and affordability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Afghan health authorities have increasingly focused on achieving greater self-sufficiency in pharmaceutical production while continuing efforts to ensure access to quality and affordable imported medicines where necessary.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KABUL: Afghanistan on Tuesday opened its second national and international healthcare exhibition in Kabul under the title \u201cAbu Ali Sina Balkhi,\u201d with senior Islamic Emirate officials and representatives from the pharmaceutical sector attending the event.
