KABUL: Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, Deputy Spokesman of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, has said in a statement that Pakistani military airstrikes carried out overnight in parts of Paktia, Paktika, and Kunar provinces martyred 36 civilians, including women and children, and injured another 163 people.
He said that Pakistani warplanes targeted a residential house in Mandokhel village of Chamkani district, Paktia province, as a result of which an elderly man and a child were martyred, and several members of the same family were injured.
He added that after local residents gathered at the site to assist the victims and transport the wounded, the area was struck again; according to him, the second attack martyred 28 local residents and injured 158 others.
The Deputy Spokesman further stated that in Giyan district of Paktika province, six civilians, most of them women and children, were martyred when a residential house was bombed.
According to Fitrat, another residential house in Barolo village of Manogai district in Kunar province was also targeted. Although no casualties were reported in that incident, the house was completely destroyed, resulting in significant material losses.
Fitrat noted that preliminary assessments indicate that a total of three residential houses were completely destroyed during the attacks.
