KABUL: Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has called for deeper cooperation among Central Asia, the South Caucasus and Afghanistan, saying a historic opportunity has emerged to create a shared development space at the heart of Eurasia, Uzbek media reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the reports, Mirziyoyev made the remarks on Friday during an informal consultative meeting of the leaders of the Central Asian states and Azerbaijan in Kyrgyzstan. He said Central Asia should now be viewed within a broader geopolitical framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Uzbek president said a region that was once fragmented is gradually moving toward greater cooperation under a common development agenda, adding that Azerbaijan\u2019s participation extends this process beyond Central Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA historic opportunity lies before us to create a common development space linking Central Asia, the South Caucasus and Afghanistan. We must seize this opportunity to build sustainable relations and good-neighborly ties at the heart of Eurasia,\u201d Mirziyoyev said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also stressed the importance of strengthening regional connectivity, expanding economic cooperation and fostering long-term relations among neighboring countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In recent years, Uzbekistan has promoted closer economic and transit cooperation across Central Asia while advocating Afghanistan\u2019s inclusion in regional infrastructure, trade and transport projects aimed at connecting Central Asia with the South Caucasus and broader international markets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
