KABUL: Minister of Industry and Commerce Nooruddin Azizi has called for expanding trade and economic relations, establishing new transit corridors and attracting joint investment among Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a statement from the ministry, the remarks were at the Surkhandarya\u2013China Business Forum, held on August 15 at the Termez International Trade Center, attended by Afghan, Uzbek and Chinese officials and private-sector representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Azizi described Afghanistan\u2019s participation as an important opportunity to strengthen regional economic cooperation. He said growing exchanges between Afghan and Uzbek officials and business delegations had created new opportunities for trade, transit and investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister also described China as a key economic partner and an important player in regional connectivity, emphasizing the need to increase Afghan exports to regional markets, particularly China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Azizi called for Afghan export products to be transported through Uzbekistan\u2019s trade and transit networks to China and other regional markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the ministry, Afghanistan is ready to welcome investment from Chinese and Uzbek companies in mining, agriculture, processing industries, energy, machinery, manufacturing and economic infrastructure. Azizi said joint investment and processing raw materials inside Afghanistan could create sustainable and mutually beneficial opportunities for countries in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Balkh Governor Mullah Mohammad Yusuf Wafa also spoke about friendly relations between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan and investment opportunities in Balkh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
