KABUL: Mawlavi Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, says the Ministry of Public Works completed 91 of 262 planned projects in road construction, bridge building, railways and other infrastructure sectors during the 1447 Hijri year, and work on the remaining 171 projects is ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He made the remarks during the \u201cGovernment in the Mirror of the Press\u201d program, where he said 393 kilometers of roads were asphalted during the period, while feasibility studies were completed for 932 kilometers of roads and topographic surveys for another 777 kilometers, according to Radio Omid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, in the railway sector, surveying and design work for 113 kilometers of the Torghundi-Herat railway line was completed, and the team also carried out feasibility studies and design work for the 763-kilometer Herat-Kandahar railway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Surveying and design work for the 96-kilometer Kandahar-Spin Boldak railway line has reached 95 percent completion, Mujahid added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Mujahid, more than 7.602 million metric tons of goods were transported during the 1447 Hijri year through the ports of Hairatan, Aqina and Torghundi, as well as the Khaf-Herat railway. He said this represented a 77.9 percent increase compared with the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also said construction began on 14 mosques along the Kabul-Kandahar and Kandahar-Herat highways, in which four of the mosques have been completed, while work on the remaining 10 is underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mujahid said the implementation of the development and infrastructure projects has created direct and indirect employment opportunities for more than 130,000 people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
