{"id":25551,"date":"2026-10-02T10:08:42","date_gmt":"2026-10-02T10:08:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/omidradio.com\/en\/?p=25551"},"modified":"2026-10-02T10:08:43","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T10:08:43","slug":"kazakhstan-uzbekistan-and-uae-to-study-casa-railway-through-afghanistan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/omidradio.com\/en\/2026\/10\/02\/kazakhstan-uzbekistan-and-uae-to-study-casa-railway-through-afghanistan\/","title":{"rendered":"Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and UAE to study CASA railway through Afghanistan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KABUL: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly study the development of a railway corridor linking Central Asia with Pakistan\u2019s seaports through Afghanistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agreement was signed by the transport ministries of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure as part of the proposed Kazakhstan\u2013Uzbekistan\u2013Afghanistan\u2013Pakistan (CASA) railway project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the memorandum, the three countries will conduct technical and economic studies, analytical assessments and feasibility studies on the required railway infrastructure and related facilities. They are also considering establishing a joint working group to examine the project\u2019s technical, economic and financial aspects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The proposed route would run from Kazakhstan through Uzbekistan and Afghanistan to Pakistan, providing the landlocked Central Asian countries with access to Pakistani seaports, including Karachi and Gwadar. The corridor could eventually carry up to 10 million tonnes of cargo annually, according to Kazakh and regional reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is intended to strengthen transport connectivity between Central and South Asia and create additional opportunities for international freight transport, trade, logistics and investment cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The UAE is expected to contribute its experience in transport infrastructure, logistics and large-scale investment, while Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan bring their existing railway networks and transit capacity to the project.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KABUL: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly study the development of a railway corridor linking Central Asia with Pakistan\u2019s seaports through Afghanistan.
