KABUL: An international research conference on the scholarly legacy of Imam Burhan al-Din Marghinani, the prominent Hanafi jurist and author of Al-Hidayah, began in Kabul today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A number of Afghan and foreign scholars and researchers are attending the conference, to present their research and academic papers on Imam Marghinani\u2019s scholarly personality, his legacy in Islamic jurisprudence, and the contemporary value of his works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a Radio Omid correspondent, speaking at the opening of the ceremony, Shaikh Azizullah Mazhari, head of the Center for Translation and Review and chairman of the conference\u2019s High Commission, said the purpose of the gathering is to strengthen unity among Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Muslims around the world, exchange academic experiences, and pass on the scholarly legacy of great Islamic scholars to future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mazhari said the scholarly heritage of figures such as Imam Marghinani should be utilized in contemporary academic research and scholarly activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that holding such academic gatherings could also help strengthen relations among nations and governments and provide an opportunity to transfer the scholarly and moral heritage of past scholars to the new generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mazhari said the first conference in this series, focusing on Imam Marghinani\u2019s scholarly legacy, was held in Uzbekistan last year, while the second conference began in Kabul today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
