KABUL: Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has called the decision to impose governor\u2019s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as \u201ccoercive and oppressive,\u201d warning that the move could have adverse consequences.
In a statement, the group said the imposition of governor\u2019s rule by Pakistan\u2019s military establishment and federal government ran counter to the wishes of the people of the province and their demands for greater regional autonomy.
The group also claimed that several religious and political parties in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had rejected governor\u2019s rule, accusing the federal government of using certain provisions of Pakistan\u2019s Constitution to advance its political objectives.
TTP said the governor\u2019s rule had been announced in the name of restoring peace and order in the province, and alleged that the federal government and military leadership had not given sufficient priority to achieving peace and security through their policies.
The group called on the public, particularly those who believe their rights have been violated, to take \u201cpractical action\u201d against Pakistan\u2019s military establishment and support its opposition to the authorities.
