KABUL: The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, stated that the Islamic Emirate has professionally completed the remaining work on the Shah wa Arus Dam project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He made the remarks, today, during the inauguration ceremony of the Shah wa Arus dam which was attended by a number of Emirati officials, mujahidin and residents of the areas, here in Kabul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cConsecutive conflicts over the past few decades have hindered fundamental work in water management across the country,\u201d Mullah Baradar said calling the completion and operationalization of the Shah wa Arus Dam in the Shakardara district as an important step toward effective water management in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking in the ceremony, Governor of Kabul Mullah Aminullah Obaid, called the inauguration of the Dam as a significant achievement for the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAfter years of waiting, the citizens of Kabul have finally seen the completion of the Shah wa Arus Dam, which is now operational,\u201d he said emphasizing that improving the living conditions of the capital’s residents is a major success for the Islamic Emirate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Construction of the Shah and Aroos Dam began in 1389 (2010), but due to technical issues and negligence, it took 14 years to complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It has 75 meters in height and is located 22 kilometers north of Kabul, and has a capacity of 9 million cubic meters of water.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
