Over 1.5 million Afghan migrants returned home last year, ministry

KABUL: Based on the decree of Amir-ul-Momineen Shaikh-ul-Hadith Mawlavi Hibatullah Akhundzada, a Commission has been established to address the problems of Afghan refugees, said the officials of the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations today.

The officials of the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations, speaking at government accountability program to nation, held at the Government Media and Information Center (GMIC) said that 1,779,603 refugees returned home from Iran, Pakistan and other countries.

According to the officials, the returnees have been provided with cash and foodstuff assistance, also they have been sent to their original residences by the government.

The officials further added that nearly 6,000 people have been released from the prisons of Pakistan and Turkey.
