Kabul reviews waste-to-energy project and key investment proposals

KABUL: Afghanistan’s Inter-Ministerial Investment Committee has reviewed a proposal to process waste and generate electricity from it in Kabul, along with several other major development projects.

According to a statement from the office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs on Wednesday, the proposals included building a commercial market in District 1 of Kabul, launching waste processing and power generation projects, establishing modern factories in the capital, and gradually producing and assembling tractors and agricultural machinery in the provinces of Herat, Kandahar, and Balkh.

Following discussions, the projects were referred to the relevant institutions for technical and economic evaluation.

Authorities have been asked to submit detailed reports within specified timelines.

The inter-ministerial investment committee is a joint body tasked with reviewing major investment initiatives involving multiple government institutions.
