KABUL: Dmitry Zhirnov, Russia’s ambassador to Afghanistan, in a meeting with Mawlavi Noor Jalal Jalali, Minister of Public Health, said that Russia is ready to expand cooperation with Afghanistan in the health sector.
According to a statement from the ministry, on Wednesday, both sides discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in healthcare, including training and capacity-building for Afghan specialists in cancer and cardiovascular diseases, facilitating study visits to Russia, and importing high-quality medicines.
They also explored potential Russian investment in Afghanistan’s pharmaceutical production sector.
Jalali welcomed the cooperation, noting that strong ties between Kabul and Moscow could have a positive impact on Afghanistan’s healthcare system.
Zhirnov, pledged to follow up with authorities in Moscow on issues such as laboratory development, training for Afghan medical personnel, and organizing visits for Afghan health officials to Russia.
