Iran proposes three-stage plan in talks with U.S.: End of war, Hormuz, nuclear program

KABUL: Iran has put forward a three-stage proposal in its ongoing talks with the United States, according to Iranian state media reports.
Fars News Agency, citing a correspondent from Al Mayadeen, reported that the plan begins with negotiations on a permanent and irreversible end to the war, followed by the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and concludes with discussions on Iran’s nuclear program.
According to the report, Iranian officials stressed that talks on the nuclear issue would not proceed unless agreements are first reached on ending the conflict and reopening the strategic waterway.
The proposal is said to have been presented by the Iranian delegation during recent engagements in Islamabad.
There has been no immediate response from Washington. However, Donald Trump recently canceled a planned visit by a U.S. delegation to Islamabad for talks with Iranian officials.
