KABUL: U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that an agreement has been reached between Washington and Tehran to end the conflict between the two countries.
In a post on his social media platform, Trump wrote: “The agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. The Strait of Hormuz will be reopened, and at the same time, I will end the U.S. naval blockade on Iran.”
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry has also confirmed the development, stating that the two sides are expected to formally sign the agreement in Switzerland on Friday.
Under the terms of the agreement, Iran will reopen the Strait of Hormuz, while the United States will lift restrictions affecting Iranian ports and the movement of Iranian vessels.
Discussions on Iran’s nuclear program are expected to continue during the second phase of negotiations.
