KABUL: U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) says American forces have launched a third round of military strikes on Iran.
According to CENTCOM, the operation was carried out in response to Iran’s attack on the Cypriot-flagged container ship GFS Galaxy, which was struck while transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
The command said one civilian crew member remains missing and the vessel has been left severely damaged and unable to continue its voyage due to fire and extensive structural damage.
CENTCOM stated that the strikes were conducted under the orders of the President of the United States.
Iranian state sources also confirmed explosions at several locations in southern Iran, reporting blasts in Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Konarak, Bandar Deyr, and Asaluyeh.
