KABUL: Nearly 3,000 people, including more than 500 foreign nationals, remain missing following devastating floods along the Nepal–Tibet border last week, Reuters reported.
According to the report, at least 669 people have died in Nepal and seven in Tibet as a result of the floods.
The disaster is believed to have been triggered by the collapse of a glacier, unleashing large volumes of water and debris into affected areas.
Nepal has appealed to the international community for assistance to rebuild the affected areas, estimating that reconstruction costs could reach $4 billion to $5 billion.
