KABUL: Iran and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to a joint statement by BRICS member states calling for a reduction in ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
Reuters reported that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also met with Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, on the sidelines of the BRICS meeting in New Delhi.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed reducing tensions, promoting regional stability and supporting development across the region.
The BRICS joint statement expressed concern over ongoing conflicts and called on all parties to exercise restraint, protect civilians and international trade, and respect the territorial integrity of countries.
The statement comes as tensions in the Middle East have raised concerns about regional security and stability as well as international trade.
