KABUL: The six-month U.S. war with Iran has cost about $38 billion, with the cost expected to rise by roughly $3 billion a month if the conflict continues, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).
The report said the extensive use of ammunition and military equipment during the conflict has put pressure on U.S. weapons stockpiles. Some depleted stocks could take up to five years to replenish, according to the assessment.
However, the White House and U.S. Department of Defense have rejected claims of ammunition shortages, saying American forces have sufficient supplies to carry out their missions.
