KABUL: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei says a new round of talks between Iranian and U.S. officials was held Tuesday in New York with Qatar’s mediation.
Baghaei said Wednesday that the talks lasted about two hours, during which Iran’s positions and conditions for resuming negotiations were conveyed to the U.S. side.
According to Baghaei, Iran is seeking an end to what it described as U.S. “aggressive” actions, the release of frozen Iranian assets, and acceptance of a safe shipping route agreed upon by Iran and Oman.
Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi also met Tuesday in New York with U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, U.S. President Donald Trump’s son-in-law.
