KABUL: The country’s Ministry of Public Health says laparoscopic surgery services have been launched for the first time at Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Specialized Hospital in Kabul.
In a statement, the ministry said the launch of the services will provide patients with access to modern surgical procedures.
According to the statement, laparoscopic surgery is a modern surgical technique that uses several small incisions instead of a large incision, with a camera and specialized surgical instruments used to perform the procedure.
The Ministry of Public Health added that laparoscopic surgery services had previously been introduced at Ibn Sina Emergency Hospital, Rabia Balkhi Hospital, and Istiqlal Hospital.
The ministry said expanding laparoscopic surgery services across hospitals in Afghanistan is an important step toward strengthening and developing modern surgical care at health facilities.
