KABUL: Minister of Public Health, Mawlavi Noor Jalal Jalali, has met with Tariq Ali Bakheet, deputy secretary-general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and his accompanying delegation to discuss cooperation in the health sector.
According to the Ministry of Public Health, the meeting focused on continued support for Afghanistan’s healthcare system, preventing infectious diseases, and strengthening coordination and cooperation among Islamic countries in the health sector.
Jalali discussed with Bakheet the provision of essential medical equipment for a cancer treatment hospital and a cardiac department, as well as financial assistance for children suffering from congenital heart disease.
The minister also outlined Afghanistan’s needs for equipping district-level hospitals, expanding capacity-building programs for healthcare workers, and facilitating agreements with the governments of Islamic countries to promote cooperation in healthcare.
The OIC delegation, in turn, expressed its commitment to continued cooperation in the areas discussed, according to the ministry.
