KABUL: Thomas Frellesen, the newly appointed European Union Special Representative for Afghanistan, has met with Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Frellesen referred to the Islamic Emirate’s achievements in ensuring security and combating narcotics. The two sides also exchanged views on several humanitarian and political issues.
According to the statement, Muttaqi said the international community had failed to provide the necessary assistance to Afghan farmers in developing alternative livelihoods and to take other essential measures to support Afghanistan’s achievements in combating narcotics.
