KABUL: Iran’s exports to Pakistan have been temporarily suspended due to difficulties caused by banking sanctions, while imports from Pakistan into Iran continue, said Peyman Sanandaji, head of the Transport Commission at Tehran’s Chamber of Commerce.
Speaking to Mehr News Agency, Sanandaji rejected reports that a border crossing between Iran and Pakistan had been closed, saying the two countries’ shared land border remains open for trade.
He said Pakistani importers must submit electronic import forms through their banking system to purchase goods from Iran. However, sanctions on Iranian banks and restrictions within Iran’s banking system have made the process difficult, affecting Iranian exports to Pakistan.
Sanandaji added that these banking problems have also complicated the supply of Iranian goods to Pakistani importers.
