KABUL: Mirwais Khan, a commander and senior adviser of the group known as the National Resistance Front, was killed in a targeted operation by Afghan security forces in Parian district of Panjshir province at around 3 a.m. today, security sources confirmed.
According to the sources, Mirwais Khan was one of the group’s key commanders in Panjshir and was the nephew of Saleh Mohammad Registani.
Reports indicate that he had also appeared in videos and photographs shared on social media some time ago.
