Wheat production increases by 12% in Khost this year

KHOST: Local officials in Khost province said that wheat production increased by 12% this year.
The provincial Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock Department of Khost stated in a statement that wheat was cultivated on 18,595 acres of land in which produced 50,698 tons of wheat showing a 12% increase compared to last year.
Officials said that the distribution of improved seeds and chemical fertilizers to farmers were the main reasons behind the increase in wheat production in Khost.
Meanwhile, officials in Kandahar have also reported a significant increase in wheat yields this year.
The Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock Department of Kandahar noted that wheat was cultivated on 98,372 hectares and approximately 368,931 tons of wheat have been harvested.
Since the takeover of the Islamic Emirate, wheat cultivation is increasingly recognized as an alternative to poppy cultivation.
