KABUL: Homayoun Afghan, spokesperson for the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, announced that for the first time, 18,000 tons of crude oil from the “Qashqari” area of the Amu Darya oil basin have been sold.
Afghan reported on Monday night that the crude oil from the Amu Darya basin was sold through a bidding process, attracting participating companies at a price of $16 per tonne.
The bidding ceremony was attended by Mullah Mohammad Israel Muslim, head of Hydrocarbon Regulation at the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, and representatives from eleven oil refining companies.
Based on the announcement, the representative of the “Hayratan Terminal Services” company was declared the winner with the highest bid of $16.
The Amu Darya oil basin, particularly the wells in the “Qashqari” area, is known as one of the oil-rich regions in the northern part of the country.
