KABUL: Officials from the Plastic Industry Union in Herat province have announced that investment in this sector has reached $65 million.
Mohammad Yusuf Saeedi, spokesperson for the Herat governor, said in a statement today, that there are currently eight factories producing bags and plastic items in Herat, which collectively produce 100 bags and plastic products daily.
He said, “Based on statistics from the Herat Plastic Manufacturers Union, in addition to the eight active companies with a total investment of $65 million, several other companies are in the process of being established. Once operational, this will increase investment in the sector to around $100 million.”
Currently, these factories not only supply the domestic markets of Herat but also export their products to other provinces.
This comes at a time when Afghanistan has achieved self-sufficiency in several sectors over the past four years.
